To put this in a deeper meaning, Ralph dislikes how Jack is controlling and abusing his power within his own tribe. Jack had created his tribe to be surrounded by negative leadership and power. More specifically, for many of the boys to go from that point and killing their friends, suggest that people can be inherently good and evil. Whenever he did not have his face painted he was normal. The boys portrayed throughout the book that human beings are inherently good and evil. The themes of loss of innocence, civilization versus savagery, leadership versus power, and good versus evil all connect and are very significant to the novel.

Golding emphasizes these themes by creating a breakdown of civilized behavior among the boys. When there is no order, people tend to make up their own set of rules. Throughout the novel, William Golding reveals that not even children are purely innocent. William Golding reveals this through the controllability and power that fear has over humans, the lust for violence that humans are born with and the natural desire for power that humans have. Lord of the Flies starts out with a plane crashing on an island. The pilot died so the only people that survive this crash were a group of boys. In an attempt to bring together everyone on the island Ralph, one of the main characters, used a shell-like object to get everyone to the beach. After many boys reached the beach Ralph started a meeting. The boys discussed what they should do to stay alive and get rescued. They voted that Ralph should be their leader. Another main character is Jack, he was angered when they voted Ralph to be leader because he thought he could do it better.

Ralph's first action as chief was to have everyone help make a large fire to create smoke for nearby ships to see. The boys agreed that this fire should stay going all the time, so that if a ship came by they could be rescued. Jack was assigned the task of hunting the pigs for food. He took the group of boys he came with and became the hunters. After awhile the only thing Jack could think about was hunting. This angered Ralph. The boys went from having innocent child minds to taking lives of other people, acting savage, and losing all civilization due to problems on the island.

The boys had forgotten where they came from and became savage in order to survive; it was the need of survival that caused the loss of innocence among the boys. Humans are a sophisticated and advanced race, one which possess the ability to affect their environment, and one another, in significant and often destructive ways. War is a catastrophic event created by humans, who upon creating it neglect to comprehend its far-reaching effects. The novel, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, places a group of prepubescent males into one of these situations. After an evacuation aircraft crash-lands, the boys are left upon a deserted island to manage and fend for themselves.

As Golding details the trials and tribulations of the young men on the island, it becomes increasingly apparent that the children respect authority and require an organized leadership. The failure to manifest such a system will result in a de-evolution into savagery. These two leaders of the tribes draw a parallel reflection on the two leaders of World War Two, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Adolf Hitler. Lord of the Flies beings with a plane crash in the middle of the ocean; the boys are left alone on an island without any adults, fending for their lives. Ralph steps up after being elected leader, but Jack declares himself the leader of the hunting tribe and ends up recruiting most of the boys to transfer into his group using paranoia and abuse.

Throughout the book, the boys lose their grip on humanity, civilization, and morality leading to deaths of some of the boys and the struggle to keep a democratic society to survive the island until rescue. Similarities can be seen between Ralph and Roosevelt as well as between Jack and Hitler throughout Lord of the Flies. These boys explore their new setting and begin to rebel as they find out that there are no parents on the island. One of the most significant characters is a boy named Jack. This is true for most people, but not all humans are like that. The story is set on an island in the Pacific Ocean.

Simon is one of the few characters that stay sensible and good throughout the story. He has a sixth sense about things happening around him, he is kindhearted, and he faints a lot which give the appearance of him being weak. In the novel, "Lord of the Flies," a group of British boys are left on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. Throughout the novel, they have conflicts between civilization and savagery, good vs. evil, order vs. chaos, and reason vs. What would it be like if the boys were replaced by a group of girls? Would they behave the same way they did in the novel? I believe that the girls would act in the same behavior as the boys in all ways because, everyone is installed with evil inside them which is their natural instinct, also because in life there is always a power struggle in all manners, and the outcome with the girls would be similar-since both sexes would plan on getting rescued.
